Heavy psychedelic rock from Barcelona. Maragda (Catalan for emerald) is a power trio where wall of fuzz guitar, progressive song structures and harmonised vocals meet. Think Earthless meets Motorpsycho, with a nod to Elder.
Formed in 2021 by Marçal, Guillem and Xavi, the band released their debut album Maragda the same year through Spinda Records, Necio Records and Nafra Records. The record made top 10 album of the year lists at Doom Charts and across the genre press. Since then the band have toured extensively across Europe, with festival appearances at Monkey Week (ES), Krach am Bach (DE), Woodrock (PT) and Pietra Sonica (IT).
In May 2024 they returned with Tyrants, recorded live at Big Snuff Studio in Berlin with producer Richard Behrens (Elder, Kadavar). The album keeps the weight of the debut but gives more room to structure, dynamics and vocal harmonies, capturing a band that sounds best playing together in one room.
A third album is in the making, set for release in the fall of 2027.
“The songs take the listener on a ride through canyons and valleys, with plenty of variation, light and shade, full of pyrotechnics. They have found a winning combination of musicianship, melody and adventurousness, all chugging away to a hard rock foundation.”
– TERRASCOPE, 2021
“They sound like they want to play all the festivals, in all the countries.”
– THE OBELISK, 2024
