Vepsestikk is an uncompromising quartet from Bergen that experiments with elements of punk, prog rock, and jazz. With stereo trumpets and “other wonderful oddities, energetically supported by a creative rhythm section” (Jazznytt), they create music described as “a kind of jazz-punk of the truly catchy variety” — as written by Engelen in Bergens Tidende (BT).
In 2023, the band released their debut EP Ny Person, described as “the most distinctive debut of the year” by BT, earning 5 hearts from both the same newspaper and Klassekampen’s music magazine. “Regardless of age, it’s relatable to anyone who feels they haven’t peaked yet!” wrote NRK P3 about the title track “Ny Person.”
With performances at Bergenfest, Nattjazz, Vossajazz, UKA in Trondheim, by:Larm, and Vill Vill Vest already under their belt, Vepsestikk is — and remains — a band that must be experienced live. Recently, legendary Heaven Up Here in Stockholm and the SPOT Festival in Aarhus have also had the chance to experience them on stage.
